My friend Kat, her sister Lia, and I decided to take a break from our hectic work and student’s (in the case of Lia) lives and enjoy an entire day full of adventures at Danasan Eco Park. Located 58 km and 2.5 hours from Cebu City, the park is a 133-hectare outdoor adventure park and a beautiful respite from our daily struggles in the urban jungle.
When we got there, we were pretty excited to try the things the park had to offer. First on our itinerary was an ATV tour of the park. We followed a group leader that would take us around. Each person of us had our own TV. I was stoked! But Kat and Lia were more stoked than I am because it was their first time to try driving an ATV on their own.
Next on the itinerary was a hike to the waterfalls and rappelling. The hike went but it was very pleasant and not at all challenging. Before arriving at the main falls, we were challenged by our guide to jump off a mini cliff (maybe seven feet high) into a pool of cold water. It was amusing because even if I had tried cliff jumping before, standing on top of the ledge is always daunting. I closed my eyes the whole time! I looked pretty funny in my photo.
Our most awaited and favorite part of the trip was rappelling down the waterfall! The 40-foot drop may seem scary but it was perfectly safe and fun. We were briefed and harnessed well by our guide plus he took a lot of awesome photos of us. I would love to do it again and again. The feeling was just indescribable.
We also trekked to Danasan Falls which was very nice. The water was so cool and refreshing after all the exhilirating activities we had done (so far!).
Our last activity before heading back to the city was wake boarding. It was my first time to do this and I did not realize it was quite difficult! The activity was pretty physical as well (holding on to the harness can be quite the upper body workout) but we were rewarded by a beautiful sunset. It was the perfect ending to our day.
